High above the town of Conwy, the mountain is home to small herds of hardy Welsh ponies that roam freely across its open slopes. They seem completely at home in this rugged landscape, grazing among the heather and gorse with wonderful views towards the coast and the mountains of Eryri.
I have always loved photographing these ponies. Their windswept manes, gentle expressions and quiet independence seem to embody something of the Welsh landscape itself — beautiful, resilient and a little wild.
On this visit, I spent time simply watching and photographing them, enjoying another encounter with one of my favourite sights in Wales and I was not alone.
